The NEED for SPEED
Young Children Need Not Sit Still - In Fact, it's More FUN for US, TOO, When They Don't!
We've heard too many of the other "caricature artists" complain and kvetch among themselves about how frustrated they are when drawing at events. They hate the time constraints and lack of "cooperation" from the "subjects" they are trying to draw at events who refuse to "SIT STILL" for them. Those miserable practitioners are really cut out for drawing still lifes in their studios rather than trying to do caricatures of living human beings out in the field.

We are just the opposite:
We actually LOVE it when people are moving and emoting and having fun joking around with us rather than "sitting still."
That's when we pick up on clues about what we can do to make their drawings especially funny--not only to THEM, but also to the surrounding audience who are watching.

We would MUCH rather draw somebody who is moving "too much" than someone who is sitting motionless and blank, not showing any expressions. WATCH OUR VIDEOS to see how we work it.
THIS IS HOW MANY WE NORMALLY DRAW AT AN EVENT:
THIS IS HOW MANY THEY NORMALLY DRAW AT AN EVENT:
A SNEAKY, DECEPTIVE TRICK COMMONLY USED BY THE "COMPETITION"...

Most artists who bill themselves as caricature artists CLAIM to draw 12-15 faces per hour. They often say they do each one in about 5 minutes. We have watched many of these over the years, and the fact is, most of the fastest ones take about 6-8 minutes per face, not 5. AND... it takes time to hold up the drawing to show it, to hand the drawing over, for the person drawn to stand up and say thank you, and for them to move out of the space and then for the next person to sit down and say hello. So even at 5 minutes, the maximum number of people drawn in an hour is usually more like TEN, not twelve, and often it is EIGHT OR NINE. We draw MUCH faster than this, so we do TWICE as many to THREE TIMES as many per hour. PLEASE WATCH OUR VIDEOS.
REAL TIME versus FAKE TIME
REJECT "TIME LAPSE," SPED UP and other deceptive VIDEOS When Hiring for ENTERTAINMENT
There are some very nice artists out there drawing some very pretty pictures. (Or at least, some very elaborate ones.) But that doesn't make them suitable for ENTERTAINING at EVENTS. It's fun to watch a time lapse video (sort of, sometimes). That has nothing to do with what it's like watching in REAL TIME.

If you are hiring
and they only offer you a TIME LAPSE VIDEO to show what they do at parties or events, then once they arrive and start "performing," don't be too surprised if it turns out to be about as much fun as WATCHING GRASS GROW.
